Calandula Falls, also known as Quedas de Calandula, is one of the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Africa.
The falls are approximately 105 meters (344 feet) high. They span about 400 meters (1,312 feet) wide, making them one of the widest waterfalls in Africa.
While the falls were less accessible during times of political unrest in Angola, improved infrastructure and increased stability have made it easier for tourists to visit. The nearest town, Calandula, provides basic amenities, and the falls can be reached by road.
The best time to visit Calandula Falls is during the rainy season, which typically runs from November to April. During this period, the volume of water is at its peak, making the falls even more spectacular.
