Tatra National Park is situated in the southern part of Poland, along the border with Slovakia. The park covers the Polish side of the Tatra Mountains, which are the highest range of the Carpathian Mountains.
The park covers an area of approximately 211 square kilometers (about 81 square miles). Elevation ranges from 900 meters (2,953 feet) to 2,499 meters (8,199 feet) at the peak of Rysy, the highest point in Poland.
Tatra National Park hosts a variety of wildlife, such as the Tatra chamois, marmots, lynx, brown bears, and wolves. It is also an important habitat for numerous bird species, including the golden eagle and the wallcreeper.
The park contains over 650 caves, with some accessible to experienced cavers. The Mylna, Raptawicka, and Mroźna caves are among the notable ones open to the public.
The main gateway to Tatra National Park is the town of Zakopane, known as the “Winter Capital of Poland.” It offers various accommodations, restaurants, and cultural attractions.
